Great show, for a guy that is very positive it’s refreshing to see your objective side coming through. You started sounding like a GM, Coach maybe you have a second career! Go Pack
BIGGEST MISTAKE: Not trading AR and a 4th rounder for TE Fant, QB Lock, DL Harris (6 sacks), 1st and 2nd rounders (9 and 40), a 5th, and a 1st and 2nd in '23. Options at #9; OT Cross, S Hamilton or all WR's except London or trade down and get Watson and one of the top safeties. Picks 40, 53 and 59 could net any of the RB's, Mafe, Faalele, WR's Thornton, Pickens, Pierce or Skyy, OLB's Jackson, Williams, or Bonitto, TE McBride.
If Love/Lock aren't the answer, Gutey would have in '23, two 1st and 2nd rounders to draft or trade for a QB in a strong class. After the '23 draft the team would have 21 players 27yrs old or younger taken in the first 2 rounds with the oldest being Clark.
I was sorry for Smith's departure as well… Hopefully it's not to the teams detriment.
I agree with just about every word you said lol. We have one of the best starting lineups with strength at every position aside from Wr, but depth is a major concern almost across the board. Maybe it's time we really trust draft and develop or maybe try and get a couple ring chasers on cheap deals.
TFL (tackles for loss) the most undervalued stat in the NFL, almost as good as a sack. Where is our LB that is going to hunt RBs and get 15 to 20 TFLs a season, Preston got 9 last season Bosa and Watt were 19 and 20. How do you beat the packers? 4 yards at a time keep AR12 on the sideline and chew up the clock. So I think not finding a dog hard hitting LB to stuff the run at the line was a mistake. Quay Walker is a really good coverage LB like De'Vondre Campbell but I'm not convinced that he was the type of LB the packers needed
Agree we are short on depth at OLB, OT, and DB. I think at OT, with having drafted three OTs who may be good enough to provide the depth at OT we need, Gutekunst is going to see how the offseason goes before committing to a veteran OT. Pretty much same thinking at DB and OLB. The OLB room is full. Maybe the good depth is already here. Again, see how the offseason goes with the players we have, and if they aren't good enough, then we look for a veteran OLB. Keisean Nixon could be the 4th corner. If he is, our CB room is in good shape. The position I think we just don't have a player for depth on the team is at safety. I imagine the same idea of letting the offseason play out to see if someone steps up to be that 3rd and/or 4th safety will be at work, but I would be surprised if we did not need to bring a veteran in to solidify our safety depth.
Gee, Andy, thanks for the mouse pellets in my captain crunch. Just kidding.
A swing OT is likely still in the cards. Dennis Kelly was signed in August, Veldheer during season. There is still time for this one.
3rd safety & longsnapper are probably my two largest areas of concern. You can add OT to them if Bahktiari isn't recovering well & since Jenkins is likely a PUP to start the year. They did pick some guys who can play Tackle but first year success is pretty rare. They better get some 'year-two-bounces' from last years picks if the normal starting tackles are still the walking dead.
Wait, DBak is still rehabbing his knee? Like 18 months later? That doesn’t sound like a good thing at all.
Un draft Jordan love
"Mistakes" is probably a misnomer, but sub-optimal depth seems accurate. You' can't have good, established players everywhere; and of course, who would you throw off the team. I sure hope Savage is more consistent this year, and earns an extension. The Packers are also looking toward next year or two. I think Smith clearly wanted to rejoin his Bud; and ML and BG will be extended shortly.
As far as I know, Kevin king is not signed by anyone yet, sure he had big mistakes, but overall he is serviceable depth, we might get to see him signed back, if the other depth guys don't show enough until after Training camp
Hey Andy I think melvin ingram signed with miami already. Love your vids man!
Hey man life's kicking my ass right now, I'm not gonna put my business out there but I appreciate these videos and I need them bro. They my therapy cus I love the game if football.
Love the video, because so many Packer fans are so sensitive about any criticism of any kind! I agree with most all you said. The depth at Safety is a problem…and Savage is so over rated I question my own eyes!!
Own comment you said "David Bahk." is still nursing an injury. When are we all going to realize a torn ACL is not a 2 year injury!! And if it is, we are in a lot of trouble. I think we all know, but don't want to admit….he may never be the same player again. Hope I'm wrong, I really do!!!
The last few years we've had the worst receiving core in the league if you didn't include Adams, now we just have the worst receiving core in the league. Complete failure by Gutey and the front office for years at addressing the obvious need and selecting less valuable positions with premium picks. Since the Jordan Love draft and previous to this year (since no one has played) just look at the offensive players we drafted and the NEXT receiver taken by any team, if we had any of them we'd probably also have at least 1 Super Bowl. I can't remember the last modern team to win a Super Bowl with a receiving core this bad.
