Wonderful take guys, love the quotes and how you’re able to blend them into each other’s analysis. I think the situation involves Bills’ son Steve and his ascendency to the throne of Defensive Coordinator, while everyone else is guessing on who’s the offensive coach, Steve is now, on paper, the Defensive mastermind of the Patriots. If they had announced Joe Judge as Offensive Coordinator and Steve Belichick as Defensive Coordinator, imagine the palace intrigue involved, from top to bottom throughout the organization and Boston press. Making it a mystery allows for a smoother transition behind the scenes.
The better quote might be when Belichick said (paraphrasing), "I'm at the point in my career where I only work with guys I like". He's hardly interested in bringing in talent from "outside", where did that come from? And Belichick's drafting strategy until recently has hardly been a knights-of-the-round-table approach. Agreed they are smart football guys. More to the point, they come cheap and won't challenge Belichick.
Coordinators get hired to become head coaches EVERY OFFSEASON 😳 I mean I don't know how the 49ers almost got to the Super Bowl after losing Robert Saleh 🙄 I love how the Patriot haters think this will be the death blow to the everlasting competitiveness of the New England Patriots.. 🤣
Nick caley should call the plays
To many cooks spoil the broth.
If it works that's the challenge.
If these guys were smart why did they get fired as head coaches??
Patriots are going to finish last in the AFC East this whole coaching staff needs to go including BB
BB has the smart media confused and thats brilliant ????
Its not equality its lets see what you can do ????
It's funny how if a trend starts to form around licking boots..that many will keep there tongue out for a chance at a seemingly flavorful experience 😅… All this talk of smart guy this or that that's cute… But it doesn't matter if they haven't yielded any positive results ?? Take as many IQ tests you feel you need..but if you're not good at your job you are a fail at your job..period but that's not to say there's not hope for you still at a different job. .But it's at a Different JoB !!
Let's be honest and forward here even if the prognosis is negative.. and that's Bill hires loyalists..buddies and cronies.. yes they may be in the football vien but doesn't mean they are top notch in there respective positions..but with that being said I can understand position less coaching lmao .. like the players.. when you don't have exceptional talents that demonstrates what you are superior at.. then taking away your label and blending you into a group and firing you out at others in a shotgun style of shooting😅 can be a functional thing in some respects .. .. pats 22/23 ..
genius move no 1 :working tirelesly since 2014 to get rid of the only qb bill had success with , no2: replacing brady witrh a scrub newton,no3 getting rid of best tight end ever for nothing and replacing him with asiasi, johnu smith and another scrub keane no 4 not playing Mlcolm Butler and telling the team 5 minutes before superbowl ,no 5 defensive call in 2007 putting 5 8 ellisHobbs on 6 6 PLaxico Buress costing Pats undefeated season,no 6 putting known idiots judge and patricia in position toteach??{teach what? teach failure?} mac jones who needs all the help he can get,.no 7 creating big holes in offensive line causing a panic pick of the guard slated to go in 3rd round.producing horrible headcoaches likeCrennel, charlie weiss, judge, patricia and mcdaniels who ran their teams to the ground. every year belichik makes several idiotic moves that schills like creators of this vid hail as"genius" the only genius move for belichik was attaching himself to Brady wagon
If the Patriots have a losing season, can we quit calling Belichick a genius?
Another good example (IMHO) is Norv Turner. As Jimmy Johnson’s OC in the early years of JJ’s time in Dallas he was a great OC. Then Turner gets a HC gig and fails. He gets hired as an OC again and the team does great. Another HC gig an failure. Some guys are meant to be a OC/DC but Not a HC
Yeah, the Patriots are brilliant. They brilliantly got rid of Tom Brady & Rob Gronkowski. Brilliant? Nah, I'd call Belichik incredibly dumb. The Pats will never be great again if they make blatantly stupid moves like this. Stop "Patting" Belichick on the back. Brady was the real genius behind the once great Patriots dynasty.
Troy Brown is there. Hoyer has more knowledge of that system than Bill O'Brian ever will. They will be fine. I'd be surprised if either of them ( Matt P or JJ) are calling plays. Caley and Bill maybe, Hoyer would probably be better than any of them.
However it shakes out nobody's gonna care by week 10. Early schedule is rough and if they drop a few it will be all the OC's fault on talk radio or the lack of one whatever. Then they will be 7- 3 or 6-4 and on a roll and nobody will mention any of this nonsense. They are gonna score points and lots of em. D has been outlawed in the NFL.
Not to burst any bubbles here. Long time Patriots fan here, but Belichick is all, ain’t no equality. He is supreme boss. Now Belichick's modus operandi in being a HC over others is he gives them freedom to draw up battle plans, they come to him and explain those plans, if it’s good, the plan is approved, if it is not up to snuff Belichick tells them what to shore up or change and check back. So, Belichick approves everything that happens on the field as far as, what the attack focus is.
So, in the conversation about the former DC and ST Coaches, also former HC, My look at it is they are OJT'g as OCs. They are lacking and so they will learn. As you should know the Patriots have a very thick bible of offense. So, they only choose what their plans of attack are. Naturally there are many factors to consider and they will learn those factors and plan accordingly. Belichick's decision here had me agog at first, but I only needed to remember he is a football genius, as I am, to understand he has a plan.
Now this is something new for Belichick. It isn’t as if he has done this before. He has always had a very competent OC on his staff, and as the last 2 years, have been strange and new, without Brady, the 3rd year will be no different. We have a QB, Mac Jones, and we have the best college QB in the history of the game, on the same team. Imagine the permutations of that, and imagine. I know it hurts your head.
Whatever, and however Belichick plans to make this work I am behind him, with fingers crossed, I think we have a very competitive team, and so although we are operating outside the box, without an experienced winning OC, we have the coach personnel to get that job done.
In fact, as we have to former HCs, supposedly operating at the OC, it is a competition isn't it. So, it could be one is better than the other. Will Belichick take all season to assess? That is difficult to say. Both these individuals want to be HCs, so investing the effort in them knowing they may leave for an opportunity I'm sure is difficult, but Belichick is well-versed here, and it is what it is, and he will proceed as if they are permanent staff.
To the point that, if one is better than the other, he made make that one the designated OC. will that happen this year or next? Or, will Belichick fall in love with the concept he has created, and find a successful way to operate, and that it may prevent either one from taking credit, ergo now I have shown I’m ready to HC, and then leave.
This should be a very interesting season in the division as all teams seem to be in flux with massive changes and we have yet to see if they are the same, better or worse for the coaching movements that have been made for all the teams, and the Jets with their 2nd year HC, and QB.
They have improved, but are they at a competitive level? That remains to be seen. so, we expect a good year from the Patriots and we hope they reach the post season, but this is a volatile year, but Belichick created it, and he will know what to do to correct, or he will try to correct, and if that correction is needed, it should be done.
Stick a fork in them all done
We''ll see what happens on the field. The results are what is going to matter. There is no more Brady to mask any issues that may come up. The Bills, Dolphins and possibly the Jets are ascending teams. I'll reserve any criticism until if and when it goes south.
Oh sure real brilliant for "Maybe" a 6 or 7 win team this year !!! ?🥱
All of this is fine but if the players don't ball out this season they won't win 8 games!
Quit dreaming , this dynasty is over and done . The patriots wont be relivent again for another 10 years
Pats had a bad draft. On the way down!
That's some interesting spin guys, have to appreciate it. But the fact is BB has been making a lot of questionable decisions lately. He no longer has Tom Brady to make everything appear like a genius move. The fact is, a great (especially the greatest of all time) QB can mask a lot of deficiencies. From drafting Harry, over paying Agholor and Jonnu Smith, trading Shaq only to draft an unproven replacement – and reaching for him by using a 1st rd pick when he wouldve likely been available in the 3rd, then drafting another Agholor in the 2nd who again wouldve been available later, then using valuable mid rd picks on 2 RBs & a QB, getting two tiny CBs, and not even trying to keep Karras or Jackson…these are bad moves – objectively – even if Brady was still around to mask deficiencies, let alone a young QB going into his 2nd year. And now that QB has to has deal with upheaval at the OC position, with two guys looking to renew their reputations and trying to outdo the other. Thats a nightmare scenario, especially with neither guy being known for brilliance in the offensive world. If this was going on in any other organization we would all point and laugh. Let's call it what is. It's poor team management.
BB and his think tank ??????? thats pretty accurate ????
Pats are done don't be surprised if they are in last place they have no offensive talent that can go toe to toe with the AFC teams
Without Brady the head coach of New England has reverted to Beavis and Butthead(Belichick) he was in Cleveland.
As good as he has been in wasn't enough. He had to cheat to win. That can't be taken away
No Brady… it's over.
Who CARES what Curran have to say anymore?
Piss on everyone ,, Bellichick has proven himself time and time again
I fully agree with Belichick being the greatest BUT he is missing one chess piece that he always had and that is the Knight. Time will tell. One thing that tight end they paid
all the money too (SMITH) from Carolina has to produce this year because he was no where last year.
Look at BB before Tom Brady. Now look at him after Tom Brady. Great coach? On paper, yes. But not. Even as Giants defensive coordinator, he had Lawrence Taylor. Brady and Taylor are arguably the two best players ever. Enough said.
Saying the Patriots Just made 2 Brilliant moves is absurd. First of all Patricia was with the Pats last season and Judge coming back as an offensive assistant or coordinator is an okay move nothing brilliant about either. You guys told us nothing here that the average Pats fan doesn't know already.
