They absolutely offered enough. Hill choose the Dolphins. That's fine. They're also paying him 30 million aav. That's ludicrous. I don't care if it's Tyreek Hill or Davonte Adams, no reciever is worth that kind of money. All this reaffirms my opinion that Douglas missed the ball on Cooper and Woods. Their salaries aren't prohibitive and the trade comp could've been a 5th rd pick for either one. That's where he's gone wrong, not here. Hill is an elite wr but not worth that price or trade comp.

Thank you Joe for NOT over paying for any player when you have a four win team in need of so many pieces and need at least four starters out of this draft.

The problem is Hill didn’t want to go to NY, regardless of what the Jets offered KC. If KC would of forced the trade to the Jets that would of been a bad decision. Hill may of not signed an extension.

2 Reasons why he chose MIA over NYJ:
    1) No State Income Tax in Florida
    2) He already has a home in Miami in the off-season and he’s from Georgia.

I don’t know if the Jets paying more would have influenced KC. If Tyreek was offered Miami and has roots there, then didn’t get it, he could have threatened a hold out. We also don’t know if that was the actual trade proposal from Joe D.

It confirms that Joe D is exploring every option as you desired in your videos. Clearly, every team is looking to move guys around so Joe can move on to the next option. I don’t know how experts would measure acquiring players, but to use that amount of draft capital and significant salary cap to add a player seems like a lot. Only a QB seems just for such a move. I can totally envision a scenario where Tyreek is flipping out because Tua and McDaniel suck! There was the video of him getting physical with the coach last season?

    Keep rockin the Grizzlies hat!

I don't think you're a complete idiot, but I don't agree with you. I think you used the right word when you said it was a desperate move. I think JD and Bob are really wary of making moves from a position of desperation.

If the Jets were a Tyreke Hill away from competing for the SB, then I would agree with you. But coming off of 4 wins, knowing that we can take whichever WR we like at 10, the number of other holes that Joe has already filled and will fill in the draft. Lets keep our cap space going forward, get better this year (I'm hoping for 9 wins), and then next year we'll be an attractive destination with lots of cap space for all the free agent WRs in the 2023 league year. Instead of hoping for the table scraps, we'll have our pick of the litter.

I also won't be surprised if Joe makes a draft day trade and acquires a WR. I think they probably bring back Keelan Cole. He knows the offense and has some chemistry with Zach. And there's always Denzel Mims….

    Patience, grasshopper.

I posted same elsewhere. There is no way Tyreek Hill is worth 5 starters. This is a joke to me.
35, 38 and 69 + 30 million per = 3 decent starters from picks + 2 elite starters in FA (We could have had Marcus Williams & Allen Robinson) for that money.
Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams could NOT take their LOADED teams to SB even with HOF QBs. They will somehow help us get there?
Nah, we would have blown this precious capital for BS splashy move. SHAME ON JOE D for even considering it.

I think Joe Douglas played this just about as well as you could expect from any GM weighing the blockbuster move of trading for a guy like Tyreek Hill, with the need to retain enough draft capital because he realizes that a single wide receiver will not win us a Super Bowl.

With that said, I wouldn’t have been upset if he gave #10 and #38 and went out and got him, especially since he went to the Dolphins. But it’s tough, because that’s a big swing and if it doesn’t pay dividends it sets us back years with the contract they gave him and lost draft capital. i’m just glad he realizes the need to win ASAP and is taking some swings

A point I heard on the radio was that the jets and Miami both couldn't afford his current contract. So if hill said no to an extension neither team could trade for him. Hence why KC offered the choice. It was kind of like he had a no trade clause. He had to want the extension wherever he went to restructure

Here's a scenario. We make an offer they can't refuse but hill doesn't want to sign an extension with the jets. He decides to play out this year and see if he likes it, maybe sign in season. Jets now have to start cutting people to get that money. Rankins goes even though his leadership is needed, Corey Davis gets traded even though him and Zach are currently throwing. They ask Mosley to restructure and he's not ecstatic about that. GVR gets cut even though there isn't much depth. Then the draft comes and they have 3 less picks to fill the extra holes. Maybe some of those picks come back from the Corey Davis trade but not enough to fill out the roster. It's a big big gamble on a guy that you may have to franchise tag just to keep here making him unhappy.

What I am saying is even if it is an overpay it comes down to hill and what he wants cause if he won't sign an extension in NY it wouldn't matter.

I respect your opinions and love the channel, but in no way do I see this as being JD’s fault. He had a deal which KC accepted, which news sources said matched the salary point that Miami offered, and even did it in a way where we would still have our two first round picks. It was up to Tyreek to choose where he went. Clearly Kansas would have been happy with our offer, and no matter what price tag we dropped on his head, under no circumstances would Tyreek have never been presented the Miami deal. The KC office obviously has a lot of respect for him, he’s done so much for their team, and they left it up to him. Hill lives in Miami, he’s a southern boy from Georgia… maybe ten mill more a year would have made him face the cold, and hop on a less-playoff ready team, but would we really want to pay a WR 38 mill a year? In my opinion, no. Not to mention this guy’s a piece of shit with a litany of off-field problems and character issues, which DO translate over to the game. I could see him being cancerous to the locker room if the team isn’t winning. Only thing that really sucks about this is having to see him two times a year now. Hopefully he tears an ACL.

Ultimately, I’ll take our picks and cap space. Maybe I’m just another delusional Jets fan, but I have faith in JD. After years of awful management, he seems to actually have a plan and is following through with it, instead of just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks like MacCagnan did and drafting garbage like Idzik did. We will find our No. 1 in this draft, have faith my friend 🙏🏼

I'm certain that the Jets and Douglass DIDN'T KNOW what Miami's offer was. After he agreed on a package of picks with KC, what was he supposed to do, say 'We've agreed, but we'll up the offer if it clinches tge deal"?? Not realistic.

The Jets offer was better than the Dolphins, and KC was probably going to give Hill a choice even if the Jets offer was higher than it came in.

I'm sorry we didn't get a premier player, but JD made the best offer, and as good as Hill is, the idea of paying MORE picks AND giving Hill a HUGE extension AND losing the ability to fill in other holes because you traded those picks does NOT seem too smart. Hill wasn't putting us in the Super Bowl, we still have a team to build. I feel better knowing JD is doing things in the right way.

That was never going to happen where the Chiefs was going to not allow Hill to choose his destination. Let's stop with this ridiculous thought process that JD should've over payed and make the Chiefs block him from picking his team. 1) That was never going to happen. 2) The guy lives in Miami during the off season. 3) No tax and warm weather. He was NEVER comimg to the Jets!! It's time for us as Jets fans to get over it and move forward and focus on the draft.

I am not normally a conspiracy guy, but I believe the Jets had zero chance of getting him, regardless. I think the way it played out was that Drew Rosenhaus knew the Jets wouldn't make the deal if there was no extension and purposely stalled extension talks so another team could swoop in. It was simply a PR move to keep his client from having to say he didn't want to play for the Jets.
