Yeah our defense didn’t have three of its best players so it’s a wash

The defense did enough to give the offense a chance to win the game. Chris, Wilie Gay and J’Varius were definitely missed but the defense stepped up when they had to. The LVC helped us though.

I would enjoy seeing them get to hitting on all cylinders going into the playoffs and if they do they will be almost unstoppable. we get someone to step up into the true number two spot and a third jump in strong would help.

With the offensive line could've done anything to run the football, but at least they did enough to keep Mahomes protected to make plays in the passing game. LA's D line beat us badly until they were gassed in the 4th quarter and OT. Darwin James was the only thing stopping Kelcie from gaining 300 yards. Once he was out there was no answer for 87. Mahomes shook off a shaky middle of the game to show he's still the best in the game. This team keeps putting it together a little at a time game by game. If they can keep improving and get 5% better each week then they will play for the Lombardi award.

Dan the man…your candidness and willingness to discuss the uncomfortable is so refreshing as a fan of a franchise (30+ yrs in st louis area) with a long history of let downs. In order to get thru any problem, one must be willing to look within and accept what needs improvement. Much love. Unable to support with $, but know that I tell all to check out the channel. Keep going in on the analysis and stay up my guy 👊🏼

I kept saying we gone walkoff on them and soon after they left we tied it up and won. I'm a die hard chiefs fan in Cali

I get so sick of these people saying how Pat gets bailed out by 87/10 all the time in crunch games. Do people not realize what it takes to manufacture some of these throws??? Mahomes absolutely does get some cake walk throws but how many times (last night) did he make throws on the run or under pressure to 87/10.

My wife's theory is in 2018-2020 Mahomes was a kid running around having fun. In 2021 Patrick is emotionally carrying the team and is feeling a lot more stress. He has to deliver. That means he has a lot more perceived pressure. In other words he is dealing with what all of us face when we finally grow up in our mid-20s.

I'm not sure they didn't WANT that big run-back to start the game. That postponed the Chargers' grinding offense from finding its rhythm until at least the 2nd possession. The Chiefs ALMOST gave up the early touch-down, but the Chargers were in goal-line almost before THEY were ready for it. It was 7 1/2 minutes before they'd touch the ball, again, in a 7-point hole. Then 6 plays and an interception.

I'm not sure they WANTED to give up those runs, but yes, they were pretty dead set on preventing the long scoring play to Charger wideouts, where I think the Bolts had a clear size and high-point advantage. But I think KC was still playing to disrupt the run game. And they DID, in spots. There just would've been more of those spots if they'd been at full strength, imo. But I don't think they would've played it much differently. Those were some pretty small creases they were running through. I don't think KC got pushed off the ball. And I think they'd've made more splash plays against the run with Sneed, Jones and/or Gay on the field. Those LA RBs are quick and they run with power. If you're a step slow to the gap, your arm tackle won't stop them from a nice gain.

Despite years of dominating the AFC West in the W-L column, I've felt like the teams the Bolts put together in August were better than ours, but they had no depth. That first meeting would always be the sternest test. I think their front 4's (clear back to Ingram's early days) and their front 5's on offense typically got the better of ours. It would be a handful of plays where KC had the right thing dialed-up, and that handful made all the domination in the trenches by the Bolts irrelevant. They'd keep Frank Clark bottled-up all game, until they HAD to go 5 wides to score at the end, and he'd get to pin his ears back with a favorable 1-on-1 matchup. They'd harry Mahomes all day long, except for a handful of plays where he got loose and found Hill or Kelce.

Thing I noticed about this game is that the Chiefs were NOT getting pushed off the line of scrimmage. I think what they played was their best run D possible, modulo the big 'n' tall WRs going up against KC's quick, fast, and savvy, but under-sized secondary.

What I did not like was how KC drew up a lot of those running plays. I'm not the expert to draw 'em up, but I can see when what they're doing doesn't make much sense. They acted like they thought they could move Linvale Joseph off his spot. They've gotta find a run scheme that suits their strengths up front. Brown and Niang aren't all that quick, but they're country strong.

There were a couple times in that game where I thought to myself "Only CEH could've made that play." I guess that's why they drafted him. They don't even have to be all that good running the ball as long as they convince the D they're dumb enough to try.

I felt like the way the Raider game went was highly beneficial to the Chiefs on a short week. The Bolts were pretty gassed in the 4th and overtime. Chiefs rested their starters in the 4th on Sunday, and I think they had more juice, late, than the Bolts.

The loss of Derwin James may have been game-changing. I don't think being without Slater set them back, much, until the very end, when they had the ball with over a minute and 2 timeouts.

Our secret weapon may have been Mark Ingram, who won the toss twice against his old team.

KC's reputation and the cliche "You've gotta score touchdowns against the Chiefs" cost the Chargers at least 3 points, which would have been the difference as time expired. The Chiefs have won quite a few games just by having an explosive offense and a seemingly weak defense that has a knack for producing a lot of 4th down tries and a lot of 4th down stops.

Daniel, that pass from Mahomes to Hardman in the end zone was misinterpreted by every analyst I heard. If that pass had been thrown straight to Hardman there was probably a 50/50 chance that would have been a pick 6. That was a good time for PM to throw a bad pass or maybe more intentional than previously thought. Thanks

This will never happen but I would love to see some Shanahan style misdirection with this offense—I’m specifically thinking of the “get everyone moving left and then roll out right” type of thing. I think that would play perfectly to Mohomes’ strengths that you’re talking about. Great insights

Great game, but KC got lucky. Even the last Charger play in regulation was lucky. It looked like PI to me and even if it wasn't Ward was beat and Herbert can hit that often. In that situation, even getting into that 1 on 1 was a total defensive fail.

I find it hilarious that the media is making this game all about the chargers and won’t give the chiefs credit. I keep hearing about the 4th down conversions and how they where missing players but no one is giving the chiefs credit for stepping up on 4th down even though they where down 3 defensive starters.

??? It's surprising how effective the unscripted 'backyard' style football is. Whereas with alot of QB's they are more effective in script 'planned' football. If KC could somehow even them out the offensive would be unstoppable.
