Stafford will move up past Elway sometime next season (#10 all time) and pass Marino (#6) before he's done. I think there is potential with LA instead of DET for him to move past Peyton Manning by the time he's 40.

I've watched every Goff snap for the Rams (for that matter, every Rams snap for the last 40+ years) and I think you really nailed it. McVay designs great plays and when his first read was open, Goff was able to make all the throws. The problem came when the defense disguised coverage and blitzed him, more often than not, Goff couldn't take advantage of the blitz, or even worse, throw it to the wrong team. Stafford seems to be able to adjust better than Goff post-snap (like you said) and make better decisions, at least based on this game. The TD throw to Woods was a great example. Khalil Mack was within inches of sacking Stafford but he stepped up in the pocket and threw a laser to Woods which only he could have caught.

Even take a look at the touchdown pass to Woods late in the game. Smart decision, and handles his progression really well

"His throws didn't have a high enough degree of difficulty" might be one of the most disingenuous criticisms you can have for a QB.

In others words, the system, the play calls, the reads, and throws were just "too good" or they made it look "too easy." Like ok, that's what good teams SHOULD do. I'm sorry that he didn't struggle to win enough for you..

Not that I've seen anyone saying this, but if I did, I'd have to have a quick word with them. 🤣

One play thats fun to break down is his TD pass to Woods. That was your typical "McVay" play where someone is in motion and thats usually a gimme TD. He motioned Kupp across the formation and had him sneak to the flat, but that one was covered up. Stafford didnt panic. He stepped up in the pocket and went to #2, who was Jefferson, then #3, Woods at the back of the endzone, and delivered a strike. That was such a savvy play by Stafford.

I was so disappointed when the 49ers didn't make a move for him instead they let the Rams do. Even worse than that they traded 3 first rounds for an unproven rookie. That's purely stupid by Kyle Shanahan.

Goff only beat the blitz by throwing to RBs….whiich is good, but what Staff is doing is graet….I think this vid 'captures' what Staff is about….Rams vs Bucs week 3 will be a great fight…I think rams were the last team to beat Tampa…yep, that was Goff's best game since 2018 probably. IF Henderson stays healthy at RB, I think Rams go to the bowl….sony michel fits well, too, he is a slower Akers, great cuts in the hole and smart and knows his job…Hendo not so much on the football IQ end.

I think that “You upgraded at quarterback so good for you,” is too simplistic. There are other factors going on. Personally I’ve always been a fan of Stafford as he’s a terrific passer. There’s little denying that. But the Rams gave up HUGE draft capital to get him which I think is too much risk. If Stafford doesn’t win a Super Bowl for LA I think Rams fans will think it was ultimately a bad move, mostly because Jared Goff then will have done at least as well. But there are other factors. Matt I think is 0-3 in the playoffs. Yeah, it was with the Lions. But Matt hasn’t even shown yet that he can win a playoff game. I think Rams fans will be rightfully nervous if the Rams make the playoffs watching that first playoff game. Even they will wonder if Stafford can win and that might put huge pressure on him. But I think the Lions made out on that trade — I think the Lions got the better deal — as they got multiple high draft choices AND Jared Goff who I think is underrated. Goff almost brought the Lions back against the 49ers. If the Lions draft wisely the next few years they might actually become a powerhouse. You read it here first.

Orlovsky wasn't saying it was necessarily a great play by Stafford, it is really good play design. If you notice, on both of the deep passes, they run a receiver right in front of the safety and cause him to sit on top of that route while running a guy from the other side of the field behind him. In both instances, the safety that is on top of the receiver passes him off to the other safety. On the Jefferson catch, the safety on the opposite side recognizes it too late. On the Kupp TD, he just doesn't recognize it because Stafford sells the under route with his eyes. That's all Orlovsky was saying, and he's right.

He has consistent accuracy yes, but his best ability is throwing on contested catches from the placing of the ball to its speed his gives his receivers the best chance to make a catch. You might ask if he does both how is he not the best, well unlike the top QBs he has a hard time extending plays because he decides so quickly if he’s passing it, throwing it away, or running with it.

Goff is not that smart. McVay made the offense easy for him. Now with Stafford on board, he’s like an extra offense coordinator on the field because he sees how defenses are set up and can change it at the last moment. Stafford is opening the Rams offense what Goff lacked.

Watch Chris Simms break down that same exact “blown coverage” and educate yourself… stop with the clickbait you just have all 22 film saying basic ass shit
