New Orleans' uniforms were primo. They were an expansion franchise, but were composed of tough veterans – Lorick, Kilmer, Whitsell, Atkins, Stonebreaker, on and on. They won three games in 1967, four games in '68, and five in 1969. Then, they collapsed, winning only two in 1970 – one of them on a horrendous call against the 9-5 Giants, nullifying a touchdown reception, and costing New York a division title.
Cardinals were rolling in '68, well-stocked with talent, especially at wide receiver and tight end. They went 9-4-1. The Pittsburgh Steelers came to play and foiled the Cards' division title hopes, tying them. St. Louis had toppled the arch-rival Browns (10-4) twice that year. That had to be a tremendous frustration for the squad.

Johnny Roland was one of my favorites. Met him when I was a kid and made my day. Very nice guy.
